Our Top Pick
Timex Full-Size Ironman Rugged 30 Watch
Timex is well-known for making indestructible, reliable – and yet affordable – men’s watches. We love the Ironman the best, and this rugged model is even better. Offering everything you could think of in a watch – yet still staying very affordable – it’s truly a steal.
While digital watches are interesting, we still prefer a time-tested analog watch. If you’re of the same mind, and want a great classic watch, that is also priced well below its true value – this is undoubtedly the one for you. Our highest recommendation.
Other Great Picks

Timex Ironman Classic 30 Full-Size 38mm Watch
The Ironman is one of the most famous watches Timex makes, and this classic model is the one that truly put the Ironman on the map. With a 100 hour chronograph, water resistance up to 330 feet, and a very low price – it’s pretty much impossible to beat the value found in this watch.
While you can certainly spend more, to get some digital bells and whistles – the Ironman remains one of the best watches on the market. It’s especially great if you want to save some money – but still get a watch that will still be ticking, 10 years from now. Our highest recommendation.
Timex Men’s Easy Reader Leather Strap 38mm Watch
With 11 different available colors, thousands of great user reviews, and a very affordable price point – this is one of our favorite Timex watches. The classic leather strap and face make it look truly timeless, and it will likely last for a decade (or longer).
While you can spend more, or opt for more features, this is by far the best affordable (and reliable) leather strapped watch made by Timex. We highly recommend it.
Timex Weekender Chronograph 40mm Watch
The Weekender is a little bit pricier for a Timex watch, but it’s also possibly the most flawless watch they make. With thousands of five-star reviews, buyers just can’t get enough of its classic look.
We like the fact that there are 17 different color combinations to choose from, as well as the excellent feel of the timepiece. While you could spend much more and get a Rolex – we love the sophisticated look of this (very affordable) Timex. Definite recommendation.
Timex Unisex Weekender 38mm Watch
With thousands upon thousands of stellar user reviews, and a clean look – this is one of the most popular watches Timex makes. It is also unisex, meaning your wife could buy a matching one – all at a very low price point.
The Weekender is definitely not the flashiest watch, but it is very reliable. We love it for it’s minimalist look, as well as for its value. Highly recommended.
Timex Expedition Vibration Alarm Full-Size
The Expedition is another great watch from Timex, and it’s one of the best-rated men’s watches on the market. With a near-perfect score after thousands of user reviews, it’s nearly impossible to find a better watch within this affordable price range.
While you could spend a lot more on a flashy watch, this one more than gets the job done – at only a fraction of the price. If you want over 300 feet of water resistance, a great military look – and you also want to save money – this is the watch for you.
Timex Men’s Easy Reader Date Leather Strap Watch
We love the leather strap on this timeless watch. With thousands of great user reviews – clearly we’re not alone.
This watch also comes in at a very low price point, so you can buy a few for the price of one (pricier) watch. If you want a leather watch that will truly go with anything – and you don’t want to spend a lot doing it – this is undoubtedly the watch for you.
Timex Men’s Expedition Scout 40 Watch
With thousands upon thousands of five-star user reviews, this classic watch from Timex is unbeatable. While it certainly isn’t the most complex watch, we love its reliability.
It also offers a very low price point, even though it looks quite pricey. Ultimately, it’s one of the best watches Timex makes, so you can feel very comfortable in purchasing this excellent model.
What Is A Timex Watch?
Timex is a well-known watch manufacturer, and they have been successful for decades. Known for their great watches – but also their low price point – Timex is a solid solution for nearly everyone who wants a watch.
Manufacturing both men’s and women’s watches, they also make seemingly-indestructible timepieces for running triathlons and marathons. These watches are typically water-resistant up to 300+ feet, and are known for lasting for decades (or longer).
While there are more upscale watches (like Rolex), Timex is in many ways the best solution, as their watches look expensive and last forever – but barely cost anything substantial. Even though analog watches are becoming less popular these days (mostly due to the rise of both the iPhone and the Apple Watch) – Timex is one of the best brands you can buy, if you’re interested in having a classic timepiece on your wrist.
Is Timex A Good Brand?
Timex is one of the most trusted names in watchmaking – period. There is no way to fake long-term value and reputation, and Timex has certainly earned their sterling standing in the watch world. While there will always be more expensive options available, Timex is not trying to serve this market.
They make great watches meant for everyday people – and they’re proud of it. In fact, Timex has so many models and colors available, that we challenge you not find at least one watch that you don’t fall completely in love with.
Do Timex Watches Last?
This is a resounding yes. Timex is perhaps best-known for being one of the most reliable watch brands on the planet. Their watches can stand up to nearly anything you can throw at them, and the Ironman models are even water resistant to the depths of the ocean (to the tune of 300+ feet, to be exact).
It’s truly hard to ask for more from a watch – especially from models that are as fairly priced as Timex watches are. They feel (and perform) like watches that cost up to ten times as much – but they’ve always kept their prices as low as possible.
Are Timex Watches Good Quality?
In a word – yes. Founded in 1854, Timex would simply not have lasted this long, if they made cheap (or poorly designed) watches.
Instead, they have weathered every possible storm, and not only survived – but thrived. They are one of the most well-known watch manufacturers in the world, and for very good reason.
When we examined millions of actual user reviews for Timex watches, we kept coming across two noted concepts – reliability, and affordability. Like a favorite pair of shoes that lasts forever, Timex watches simply don’t age.
They can be beat up, dropped, stepped on, thrown into the ocean – it doesn’t matter. Our staff has personally owned Timex Ironman watches since the 1990s – and they still work great.
Where Are Timex Watches Made?
While the company was founded in the United States, Timex now makes watches both in the Far East, as well as in Switzerland. Parts come from both the US, as well as Germany.
Interestingly, Timex was named after two other American institutions – Time magazine, and Kleenex. These disparate origins mean that Timex also has a sense of humor – a rare find, for a watch company.
What Type Of Watches Does Timex Specialize In?
Timex is very well-known for their Ironman models, but truthfully they don’t specialize in just one type of watch. They have evolved from making pocket watches, to making modern-day, sleek wrist watches.
In fact, they aren’t even limited to just one gender – they make watches for both men and women. You can even buy unisex Timex watches, so your wife and you can sport the same stylish wrist wear.
We are personally partial to the Ironman line of watches, as these timepieces have always held up extremely well for us. However, we’ve also owned multiple normal wristwatches from Timex – and they are all still running.
This is just about the best value you can put in product, as our initial investment in each watch was only about $30 or $40. Most watches in that price range barely last a year, let alone a decade.
But Timex models keep right on ticking, and they do it with ease. Other competitors, like Fossil, also make great watches, but we are a little bit partial to Timex (probably due to sentimentality, as well as performance).
What Are Some Of The Most Well-Known Timex Watches?
The Weekender is a notoriously great watch, and it brings the word ‘casual’ to a whole new level. It looks great in any situation, and also happens to look like it costs ten to twenty times more than it actually does.
The Easy reader model is another standout, as it works in both formal (and informal) settings. It doesn’t drip with flashiness, but it has a quiet sophistication, which speaks volumes.
The Expedition is another great model, and Timex barely has to market it – it’s simply that good. In fact, the classic ‘light up’ feature we’ve come to know and expect from watches, largely started with the Expedition.
While this feature has gotten less “cool” over the years, it’s hard not to remember how insanely great it was to have a light-up watch, back in the 1990s. The Expedition is also pretty stealth, meaning it doesn’t need to be flashy, to be a great addition to your wristwatch collection.
This brings us to the Ironman – the coup de grâce of Timex watches. Reading through user reviews, it’s easy to see just how universally loved this watch really is.
It lasts forever, can take any beating, and yet never wavers in its performance. It’s not flashy – it’s functional.
And it’s understated charm is one of the reasons why endurance athletes absolutely love it. We doubt Timex will ever change this design, as the Ironman is as stone-cold classic as it ever gets, when it comes to sport watches – or even watches in general.
The Best Timex Watches For Men
There you have it – our top choices for best Timex watches for men. While women can certainly buy a Timex as well, their men’s models are slightly more well-known, likely only due to the greatness of the Ironman model.
However, Timex also makes many watches that are unisex, so both men and women can get in on the action. We hope you found our reviews of these watches useful, and be sure to check out some of our other top product reviews, if you want to make any other purchases (whether big, or small).
