Keurig is a famous household name when it comes to coffeemakers. In the 1990s, they came to prominence with their revolutionary easy-to-use office coffeemaker. By the early 2000s, they also came to dominate the home coffee scene.
After capturing a huge part of the market, Keurig now sells filters, coffee “pods”, and a huge variety of machines. But we sifted through the numerous models, to arrive the the best Keurig picks.
Why Do I Need A Keurig?
Keurig took a very complex and messy process (making coffee) – and streamlined it. With just a little bit of water added to the coffeemaker, you simply drop the pod in the top, and press start. That’s it.
No cleanup, no filter to throw away, no messy coffee grounds. With this much simplification, it’s obvious to see why Keurig cornered the market for home coffeemakers. You can also make tea using a Keurig, as well as a wide variety of other hot drinks.

How To Use A Keurig

First – who will be using the Keurig? If it’s only for your own personal use, you may be happy with just a Keurig Mini. But if the Keurig is for your office, or a large number of people in your home – you’ll want to go with the Keurig Special Edition K-Cafe SE.
There are many extra features on the more deluxe Keurig models. This includes a milk frother, the ability to make lattes, as well as the ability to make cappuccinos. If you’re a coffee connoisseur, you will definitely want to invest in one of the most advanced models.
Keurig Mini

How To Clean A Keurig
Cleaning a Keurig could not be easier. You should start by unplugging the machine, then disassemble and wash all removable parts. Use warm, soapy water.
Next, wipe down the surface of the machine (using a dry cloth). Return all disassembled parts to the Keurig, and plug in the machine.
Next, simply allow the machine to run as normal – but don’t insert a pod, and fill your water reservoir with a 50/50 mixture of water and white vinegar.
Continue brewing “empty” cups, until you’ve completely gone through the water and vinegar mixture. Be sure to discard the filled cup after every cycle, and once this is done – repeat this cycle again, using just water.
If you want to use a different cleaning solution besides vinegar – you can use the official descaling solution.
How To Make Iced Coffee With Keurig
You are not limited to just regular coffee with a Keurig – you can make cappuccinos, lattes, and even iced coffee. Of course, you must choose a more advanced model to do so, but there are plenty of great Keurig machines that are still very affordable.
To make iced coffee, simply fill your mug with ice cubes, place it under the pod holder, and brew your favorite flavor as normal. Once brewed, add a little milk and sweetener (to your desired taste). And that’s it! The process of making iced coffee in a Keurig couldn’t be simpler.

The basic Keurig models don’t have too many extra features – but we highly recommend spending a little more, to get some truly extraordinary features. For example, you can get a milk frother directly built in to your favorite Keurig – allowing you to make lattes and cappuccinos with ease.
You can also choose a Keurig model that has an iced coffee feature, an auto shut off feature, as well as a machine that hooks up directly to your water line. This results in easily accessible filtered water – with no extra work required.
If you have a lot of coffee to make on a daily basis – choose a Keurig model that has a 90 ounce water reservoir. Ultimately, you do not have to choose a higher-end model – but based on our experience and testing – you’ll probably want to.
